: slick backseater, on the other hand, simply
: needed to either A) be stupid, or B) have
: balls of steel.

Bob, I didn't know that you cared so much about us slick drivers, and I appreciate the honorable discription. But you did mess up a little on the backseaters. Very few of them were stupid, many of them had better educations than the front seaters, all of them had balls of steel.

We still do love all of them gnarly muthas, our knuckle draggers were the best in Army Aviation, they were the best at covering our butts. Our overall crews had pride in their platoons, but when it came to getting the job done, there was no other company in the Army, ground or aviation, that could do what our unit's combined efforts or our unit individuals could do! And, I remember very few times when our unit refused to do anything. As a matter of fact the only person that I remembered who failed to do what he was asked to do, was standing in front of the operations shack with all of his belongings in a pile while the commander made a decision of what to do with him (I think the OPNS officer wanted to shoot him). And that was less than two hours after the incident, and it took that man over an hour to get back to Pleiku after the incident! Everyone in the crocks and gators were doers, and they were good at what they did!
