Like Bob said, we don't know why John McCain voted the way that he did, all we see is a number and a yes or no and we extrapolate from that. I have found that McCain's work with Senator Kennedy was objectionable in many ways, but I also see a man who is trying to resolve problems by reaching across the isle and to negotiate a rational solution. We see only the snippits that are provided to us by the news media, or those people who are trying to tear an individual down. I want to know what was said and at what stage of negotiation they were in when it was said or agreed to. If the words are not written down for the final document, they mean little, for the words and meanings will most likely be changed before the final product is finished.

Watch the news, they parse words that are said and cut out much of what was said and only deal directly with the "words that they understood to be objectionable", what happened to the rest of the text. What part of the sentance are they quoting, and what are they leaving out?
