You are right again, now we need to beat our current two party system to death. We need to start a movement where we get a group of people to come together and establish a bunch of governing guidelines based on the current system but designed to prohibit earmarks, PAC'S, and other special interest activities. This third party should start by establishing its agreed upon base guidelines and then aligning personnel to replace the current Senators and House Representatives, first, in the state governments and then the federal government. Currently no individual (Jesse Helms) has been able to take a leadership position at either state or federal levels and get anything worthwhile done. But if we were to start by challenging and replacing all who did not follow the guidelines of the third party through the current voting system. Eliminate the current corrupt Democrats and Republicans as we know them by voting them out of office, then run a third party candidate for President.

Look at it this way, Obama is saying something like this, but it will never work without establishing a power base.
