Lynn, the actual indicated red lines varied after 1975 depending on the model and pitot system installed. As an army test pilot at Bell Helicopter I initiated the changes when we found that we had let the B and D models exceed the VH redline because of guage errors and had restricted the H model to 116 Kts for the same reason. All the guages had the indicated redlines at 120 Kts until we made the changes. And 120kts was not a main rotor blade restriction but a restriction based on tail rotor loading before we moved the TR to the opposite side. After that move the "VNE" was moved to 130 Kts. If you look at the charts in the back of the dash 10 you'd find the best cruise speed was 120 Kts true. that gave you the best settings.. and if you reduced the RPM to 6400 you'd find even more range.
Thanks for the interest.
Salute
