thanks for welcome!

first of all Merry Christmas and HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thanks for warm welcome and greetings. Time is flying, the years are whipping by.Seems that when you turn 60,it really hits home.
My first day in the 119,I went to breakfast, we were eating in the 170 mess hall, I walked in and one of the 119 cooks said something like " do you want an omelet? " this was great- I felt like I belonged from the get go. amaziing how you remember stuff like this.
Yes, I was at Ankhe for the 15nov69 sapper attack.I'm looking at an old news clipping from the Washington Post that my parents cut out, probably from the next days paper. The article has a strange headline "REDS ATTACK HOSPITAL,DESTROY 20 COPTERS". The story really emphasises the hospital being attacked. It say that 24 patients and one or two nurses or red cross girls were wounded. I wonder why they targeted the hospital in the first place? wasn't the hospital way on the other side of the PX?
The article says the sappers cut through the barbed wire barriers on the northeastern perimeter and moved to the helicopters near the center of the base before being detected. So they must have passed close to the company area, and left one sniper in the water tower there.
The article ends speculating that the attack was in support of the anti-war demonstrations in the U.S.
I flew that day. we took off later that morning for a long day , going way north to the special forces camps at Dak Seang and Dak Pek.
I am still real slow on the computer, see you all later,
