Gotta keep an eye on those Tech reps. They'll try to BS you-)/ And you won't believe it, but in early 67 the cieco fuel control on the huey engine was depot repair only. there were two screws we were allowed to touch. the Flight idle adjustment and the upper limit. The Major came in one day and I had a fuel control apart on my desk trying to figure out how it worked. The major had a fit. I told him " It costs 16000 dollars for each one we send to depot. Whether is is in pieces, working or not.. and I am going to figure this out." I found the ground Idle screw could do a neat thing.. and we were never to touch that screw. Well I found out what it did and after that, if I had some stalls I'd tweek it and the other screws and use the aircraft as my " Green run Test stand" by flying it.. I stopped a lot of useless fuel control changes and got a lot better performance for my guys. They trusted me and I ended up at the Bell Plant as an army Test pilot before it was all over-)) A few years later my actions were permitted. And Bob , you're damned right. With my knowledge of electronics, computers and mechanics, I'd love to tweek this damned thing to perfection. If I have to be bionic I'd like the best performance-))//
