119th Coin Saga

119th Coin Saga

Some of you may be aware of the situation that cropped up in December regarding our 119th unit coin. One appeared on eBay, for sale. Upon investigation, we discovered that the same person had already sold another one in November that we missed. I assumed they had been stolen out of the mail.

They were not stolen out of the mail. The company that manufactured the coins, "QUALITY CHALLENGE COINS, INC." whose website is www.wemakecoins.com plus another hundred or so similar URLs, had without my knowledge or permission made extra coins and had sent some out as samples to others. (This is common in the industry, by the way.) The man who got these particular samples gave them to his nephew, who put them up for sale. If anyone wants copies of their correspondence to me, just let me know and I'll email copies to you; there's no need to put them up here.

Bottom line: we are done with QUALITY CHALLENGE COINS. They still don't get it; actually said to me in an email, "You should be angry with the person who was selling it on e-bay not with us!" I may need to place another re-order to keep us going until I can have another coin produced by another company, but that's it. Done.

I am looking for a new supplier, and any new supplier will agree in writing to certain restrictions on production and use of our coin or they will not get the business.

It's a shame this happened; it didn't need to happen. If they had just respected our business enough to be honest and aboveboard with me, it would not have happened. The good news is, everyone who has one of our original coins has a rare, very limited-edition coin. (As if you didn't before this happened.)

I will post updates as things progress,

Bob K--
