Dad's biopsy

I spent 12 hours with Dad at the hospital today. It was the usual cluster that is known as Army Medicine. They caused him some "discomfort" as they stabbed a needle through his back into his lung for the biopsy (without any anesthetic, thank you!). Dr. Warm & Fuzzy was kind enough to point out that if this is yet another cancer (which he says is likely given Dad's history) and it is spreading, they won't need to do the carotid surgery as he "won't benefit from it." Is that Army for "I won't waste my precious talent on you since you're just an old fart who's gonna die soon anyway?" Sounded like it to me. I got a little irate with him. I was surrounded by reservists with their, "Thank God I'm not in Iraq" mentality, and had to deal with this child-doctor. He looked so young to be a doctor. Does his mother know he's out this late?

Anyway, you guys who have Dad's number, could you maybe call him for a brief hello? He's pretty down. Thanks, Guys.
