Boy, do I remember that night! 30+ years has really blurred my memories, but I think we only had a couple of aircraft damaged, and lost only one, I think. 57th lost a couple maybe, too; but the 7/17th Cav took the brunt of it. I think maybe all those you posted are 7/17 aircraft. They were 'way up on the north end of the compund and we were down on the south end of the Golf Course; I think most of the sappers came through the wire on the north.

There was a rocket attack in late December or early January while we were at Holloway that I remember. Pat Walthall and I were really drunk at the O-Club when it started. Ralph was also pretty looped. We were still pretty new and Ralph was gonna escort us back to the Co. area. I still have a small scar on my arm from falling and jabbing a piece of psp into it. We didn't know the way to the first aid station, and Ralph took us over there. Cpt. Winston got tangled in some barbed wire while running to a hidey-hole that same night. Neither one of us got purple hearts for that; too bad we didn't have Sen. Kerry to show us the ropes.
