And there were Company and Battalion senior NCOs stealing logged hours from crews and drawing flight pay without ever flying. Air Medals by pencil. War heroes.

They then retired as soon as they could, and the guys they stole the time from became the NCOs who fixed the Army in the dark years after Vietnam; made it into the kickass Army that poured into Iraq the first time around.
