What's with these Muslim and socialistic detractors calling our President a "COWBOY" - as if Cowboy is a dirty word?
by Doc Fennessy

Why is it that these renegade Muslim and Socialistic detractors and liberals in the multi-media calling our revered President George W. Bush, leader of the free world, a "COWBOY" in such a derogative sense. Is "cowboy" a dirty word? It seems to me that they are only insulting their own intelligence. Did you ever wonder about cowboys? In the strictest sense a cowboy is a ranch handworker who rides horseback much of the time on his job of herding and tending cattle. He may also be a performer in a rodeo or Wild West Show. Most certainly he is a conventionalized character in novels, radio, motion pictures and television etc. As kids we daydreamed and experienced imaginatively the cowboy typically as an adventurous Westerner who rides horseback with an accepted usage or way of behavior that carries pistols, fights the bad guys and sings ballads.
As kids, cowboys taught us morals, right from wrong, patriotism, manners and respect for women. That was "the law of the land" way back then in the bygone days of our past life and cowboys were our heroes. Humanist and humorous Andy Rooney writes about life centered on human behavior and values of our contemporary society. Andy has his own definition and interpretation of a cowboy and his way of life that is definitely related to our revered President George W. Bush as he writes -On Being a Cowboy . . . They call my President a "COWBOY." "It used to tick me off when the Muslim detractors in the Middle East, or the Socialist detractors in Europe, Hollywood and other cesspools of America called my President a cowboy, but the more I think about it, the more glad I am that he is."
"When I was a kid, cowboys were my heroes. Well, I mean the ones in the white hats: the black hats were the bad guys. There was Tom Mix, Buck Jones, Johnny Mack Brown, Hopalong Cassidy, Red Ryder, Gary Cooper, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, John Wayne, Marshal Matt Dillon and others. Personally, I think Roy Rogers could beat'em all up, and then sing a song afterward to his girlfriend. He was my favorite."
"What were common attributes of these legendary cowboys? Well, here are a few: (1) they were never looking for trouble, but when it came, they faced it with courage. (2) They were always on the right side. (3) They defended good people against bad people. (4) They had high morals. (5) They had good manners. (6) They were honest. (7) They spoke their minds and spoke the truth, regardless of what people thought or 'political correctness', which no one had ever heard of back then. (8) They were a beacon of integrity in the wild. Wild, West. (9) They were respected. When they walked into a saloon where they usually drank only sarsaparilla, the place became quiet and the bad guys kept their distance. (10) In a gunfight they could outdraw anyone. In a fistfight, they could beat up anyone. (11) They always won. (12) They always got their man and (13) In victory, they rode off into the sunset."
"Those were the days when there was such a thing as right and wrong, something now blurred in our modern world and denied by many. Those were the days when women were respected and treated as ladies, because they acted like ladies."
"Now that I am older, I still like cowboys. They represent something good -something pure in America has been missing. Ronald Reagan was a cowboy. I like Ronald Reagan, who was brave, positive and gave us hope. He wore a white hat. To the consternation of his liberal critics, he had the courage to call a spade a spade and call the former Soviet Union what it was -the evil empire. Liberals hated Ronald Reagan."
"They also hate President George W. Bush because he distinguishes between good and evil. He calls a spade a spade, and after 9-11 called evil 'evil' without mincing any words, to the shock of the liberal establishment. That's what cowboys do you know."
"He also told the French to 'put their cards on the table' {old West talk}, which they did, exposing their cowardliness and greed. The Arabs are wrong. In the old West, might did not make right. Right made right." "Cowboys in white hats were always on the side of right, and that was their might. I am glad my President is a cowboy. He will get his man. Cowboys always do, you know!" No one but Andy Rooney could have explained it better. I am proud to be a Texan, and am proud of our Texan President, as we all should.
