Paul, the only suggestion I have is that, unless the cousin has concrete reason to know that it was a Medevac outfit, tell him it may not have been.

Grunts tend to refer to any helicopter that took their wounded as "dustoff" or "medevac." They simply did not know the difference and assumed that the ship that picked up the wounded was a "dustoff" ship. We all know who usually picked them up, and it was not Dustoff.

The ground unit radio logs, probably battalion level, are the best resource. They very often give the callsign of the ship that responded. Maybe that's where he should start, then follow his nose from there. He just needs to ba aware that it could have been ANY helicopter in the area that made the pickup, not just med units.
