Bob, I started this, and it was because there have been several verbal battles here that have had nothing to do with the reason for this site, and I got damned fed up with what sounded to me like schoolyard trash talk, and said so a couple of days ago.

I also said the other day that nobody needs to apologize for anything, that we are all free to express any opinions or viewpoints we want. Those opinions and viewpoints should be received and responded to in a civil manner whether we agree with them or not.

It is my opinion that some subjects are not appropriate for this forum because they do more harm than good. There are plenty of other places on the Internet to rant about whatever anybody wants to rant about.

Mark is not banning anything, he is trying to keep things on an even keel here and restore a sense of direction to this site. We can ignore his wishes, or we can do our best to keep this place going and growing, and the fun it once was. He's not muzzling anybody; he is trying to return a measure of civility to replace the recent vulgar brawls.

Anybody here has every right to talk about whatever they want to talk about, especially if they don't care what damage they are doing to the forum. I thought the idea of this place was to bring us together. It's been looking lately like guys would rather drive us apart. For whatever reason, it's working. Maybe it's a sign that the site has run it's course.
