Great Story

I got this from a guy named John Bobb. He was with our Battalion 67-68 and survived the Battle of Kontum, the Battle of Chu Moor Mountain and other such nastiness, and also has a great sense of humor.

I am back from KS. The last three years I camped with the Colorado Run For The Wall Coordinator. This year to help him I brought my tent, and set it up for him, so he would not have to pitch his tent, and take it down in the morning. He was very appreciative. I just sleep in the dirt every year.

He lives in Boulder, and has been doing the run for ten years. He is a vet and a great guy.
He called Ward Churchill an asshole to his face in a restaurant. He has a camoflage (hard word to spell)pickup truck in his driveway, and some young college student who was told by his brilliant professors to protest the war, thought that extended to destroying peoples private property. The dummy thought this vet's truck belonged to the army, I guess. Well the vet heard some noice and saw this kid by his vehicle. The kid had snapped off his windshield wipers, kicked out a headlight, and was taking off his rear plate when the vet made his appearance. The kid tried to run, and tripped over a low fence. The vet worrying about whether or not the young man was hurt duing his fall, helped him up, and unfortunately lost his balance a little and the kid was slammed to the ground very hard, again, accidently. While attempting to regain his balance the vet accidently stepped on the kid's throat. Not knowing if the kid was a danger or not, the vet decided it was a good time to ask the kid what his intentions were and they had a conversation until it was clear that the kid was crying and could not answer questions anymore. The vet realizing that in the excitement of things had forgotten to take his foot off the kids throat. He helped the kid up, and in doing so, his fist accidently came into contact with the kids face and he went down again. The vet explained to him that he probably shouldn't move in a direction counter to the way the vet was trying to help him stand up. The vet then asked the crying and sobbing young man if he wanted to be there when the police arrived to do the vandalism police report for insurance purposes. The kid expressed a desire to leave before the police got there. The vet asked the young man if he figured they were even at this point, or if anything else needed to be discussed; and inquired as whether or not the young man was going to visit him again. He let the kid go about his intelligent ways.
