I don't know if any of this will help but here are some of the things we went through during mid 1968.

The 1/22nd went into the Plei-Trap Valley and established several firebases in April of 1968. Lots of bad guys and we took lots of fire pulling resupply missions. Sp/4 Ringus got shot in the foot near the end of the month and was med-a-vaced out of country.

The beginning of May, the SF camp at Ben Het was overrun. Lots of enemy movement around Dak To. Pulled several "Hot LRRP" extractions during the month. Ted Pemberton's gunship was shot down during one extraction. Got the crew out but all were med-a-vaced out of country. The 101st ABN moved their 3rd Brigade into Dak TO and we were involved in Operation Mathews for two weeks. Did several combat assaults and got shot out of several landing zones resupplying the grunts during that time.

May 25th we got pulled up to Dak To around midnight. FSB 29 was almost overran. Did a night resupply and pulled wounded out. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 bad guys killed that night.

Worked Dak To most of June and July during the monsoon season. Limited flight time because of weather and several hairy resupply missions during that time.

August and September we were assigned to FOB II. Spent a lot of time near Hotel 9 in Laos and made several trips to the "Bra" in Cambodia. Most extractions were made with "McQuire" rigs and several times under fire.

I thought this would get you started. My journal has dates to what we were doing during these times. I also have names like Hayes, Parsons, Heinz, Hahn, Franks and several others that might click a light on for you.
