a superb project

and I'm not sure of enough details to drop it all out there yet, but here's the gig..

an OLD pal of mine (since '63), Rick Cope, lives in Hawaii, and we met up in June in the Blue Ridge... had a blast. We happened upon each other in '70 in Pleiku...

Rick (a real go-getter go-to, stand-up guy) and some of his buds (many Nam Vets included)are into a not-for-profit project in Hawaii to acquire, however that may happen, two buildings at the Kapalama Military Reservation.. maybe someone can yank a string ot three and have it donated to the cause...

now in the custody of the US Department of Transportation, and formerly a part of Hickam Field, or Schofield Barracks, I forget which....these buildings would be the wartime Chapel and Morgue, through which so terribly many of our Brothers and Sisters passed on their way home from the war.

the goal of this grouop is to prevent the destruction of the buildings, and establish
a worthy memorial museum to the honor of our Heroes..

I have email addresses, phone numbers and mailing addrress for the folks involved in the initiative, should anyone care to contribute funds, artifacts, etcetera...

they're also looking for someone to assist (donate??) expertise for a website to further their fund raising efforts, and possibly to help celebrate the cause... I don't know yet if this is a 501c(3)-type bunch, but I was provided a couple of forms, with Federal EIN #20-2260014, and I'm presuming that's a tax ID/Exemption number.

More details as soon as I contact Rick, next few days..

I will mail out information/donation forms to anyone who wishes to have them.

more of the "important stuff", Folks...

Tom
