The following is a brief account of my Dad's life, like all other fathers he was a man to be PROUD of.

WAYNE ARTHUR FRANKENFIELD

Wayne Arthur. Frankenfield, of Charlottesville, VA, died on September 23, 2006 from complications associated with pneumonia at the National Lutheran Home in Rockville, MD. He was 84.

Born on March 13, 1922, in Tiffin, Ohio, he was the son of Arthur A. Frankenfield and Sylvia Raudebaugh Frankenfield and the stepson of Velma Frankenfield. He graduated from Old Fort High School in Old Fort Ohio in 1940. In 1948, he earned his Bachelor of Commercial Science Degree from Benjamin Franklin University in Washington DC.

Mr. Frankenfield was preceded in death by his first wife Emma Louise Wise (d.1970), his second wife Helen George (d.2005) and stepson Lynn George (d.2004). He is survived by two sons Jerry Frankenfield and Thomas Frankenfield; two stepsons, Steven George and Roger George; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mr. Frankenfield joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1941. He began his career in the Identification Division in Washington DC and became a Special Agent in 1948 serving in Memphis, Tennessee; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and in the Accounting and Fraud Office at the FBI Headquarters. He was the number one man of the Accounting and Fraud section at the time of his retirement in 1975. After retirement, Mr. Frankenfield distinguished himself by working on the Ronald Regan Presidential Transition team, volunteered for the American Red Cross in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and the Finance Department, City of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He received many awards for his dedicated community service.

Mr. Frankenfield’s major hobby was sailing Cougar Catamarans where he won about 100 trophies including National Championship races in Fishing Bay, Virginia 1968, and Gulf Port, MS, in 1971. He was a member of the Potomac River Sailing Association in Washington, DC, and a founding member of both the Grand Strand Sailing Association in Myrtle Beach, SC and the Long Bay Sailing Association North Myrtle Beach, SC.
