Re: Prayers for Hero
In Response To: Re: Prayers for Hero ()

I should have shotgunned the better news on Tony the Tough-Ass Tanker this morning, but just now was reminded of his better fortune, delivered by email from Don:

"At 0200 Tuesday, Oklahoma (CDST) time, Tony called from the hospital in Landstuhl, which is 40 minutes from his normal post of assignment, Smith Kaserne, Baumholder, and about the same distance from our relatives in Bliesen, Saar, Deutschland.

Paula was not with him, but is thought to be on a later flight, on emergency leave, out of Iraq.

Tony's voice was strong, his attitude top-notch, and he said he expects a full recovery without having to go to WRAMC or Brooke AMC. I hope he's right. We shall see. He's tough, fit, very strong and bleeds OD. Our nation and our family is blessed with Soldiers (NCOs) such as Tony.

He spoke with Maria, Brianna (his daughter) and me. Brianna was so relieved to hear her Daddy's voice, as were we.

Thank you for going out of the way to check on him, Doc Ski. You are truly a brother, comrade in arms and dear friend.

I am so grateful for friends like you, especially those in Chapter XIII of the SFA, in the SOA, the old 119th AHC ('Nam days), my high school friends, my former colleagues of Central Texas College and the Yongsan Motorcycle Club, and the 82d Aviation Regimental Association. I appreciate the U. S. Army more now than when I was a Soldier / officer.

God bless you and yours.

I will be in touch."
