Tom, you are right. Dec 31st 1966 I watched the tracers arc skyward from the 3Bde/25th camps between Holloway and Mang Yang. Then Holloway erupted and the ARVN to our west thought they were under attack and they started shooting. The old man was really pissed. Especially at some wojugs who shot. one guy was caught with an M-79 getting ready to fire upward. Drunks and guns. And Ass chewings all around. Ho Ho Ho.
The on Jan 7th 1967, I had officer of the guard and charlie put on the biggest show of the New year. Hit us with over 300 rounds plus a sapper attack on the ammo dump. Destroyed 12 UH-1s of the 155th sitting on the 119th pads. He had a machime gun set up on the 604th end of the runway and put fire right down the runway as my Sgt. of the guard (SP5 Lawson) and I tried to cross it to re-establish commo with the bunkerline. Scared the piss out of me.
Happy New Year!.
Salute!
BT
