: What is the Castle Doctrine???

"Home is castle," Don. No obligation for you, as a home or business owner, to exhaust avenues of retreat or wait for overt threat before use of deadly force to defend your home, family, or business. Fact that bad guy is inside the premises without authorization is reasonable cause for you to empty the magazine.

Some states demand that all avenues of retreat be exhausted, or you have reasonable cause to think you or others are in mortal danger before you ventilate the bad guy. They want you to go out the back door, if you can, as the bad guy comes in the front, and they will prosecute you if you do not.

A case can be made that bad guys tend to congregate in states where their chances of being shot full of holes during the practice of their nefarious craft are minimized.

It is also why all bad guys shot to death by homeowners inside private homes in Connecticut in modern memory have, coincidentally, been found by the authorities with a large kitchen knife grasped in one of their cold, dead hands.
