I've sent this message to my senators and representative.
"Dear Senator XXXX
Due to the tragic shootings at VA.Tech, there is already a cry beginning on the news about Semi Automatic weapons and high Capacity magazines.
Not a word about the campus being a "Gun Free Zone" or the fact that the shooter committed a felony by bringing a gun on campus. We have to stop these insane gun laws that make sheep of students when wolves come to prey. Most college students are of age to own a gun and all professors are. One or two armed students and professors might have reduced the tragic toll. I urge you and your colleagues to not give in to the pressure and further restrict the citizens right to self defense.
Instead, I think you should pass laws that permit properly trained students of legal age be permitted to carry on campus. Require that volunteer professors be properly trained and permitted arms even in the insane, feel good, "Gun Free Zones". Do not permit this tragedy to cause our congress to abrogate the second amendment.
