RE: The Camp Holloway Memorial Wall.

Many of you do not visit the 189th AHC or 52nd Web page very often.
A few years back probably in St Louis MO, the subject came up about the Camp
Holloway Memorial Wall. Vern mentioned we needed a Home for the Wall.
At Ft Wolters, primary helicopter training post, which many of you learned how to fly
there, the National Vietnam War Museum is being built. It will be a several milion dollar
facility.
At reunions since then Washington DC and St Louis, we discussed the issue further.
Jim Messinger from the Museum made a presentation in St Louis at the Bn Reunion
this past Oct 2006. It was voted upon by the members that were present and passed
for the wall to be built at the Museum.
Gerry Sandlin from the 189th AHC (web master) Volunteered to be the committee
chairman. I volunteered to be a chairperson. Don Scott came aboard as chairperson
as well. Since I live just 45 minutes from the Museum, a big load has been put on my
shoulders, BUT That is ok.
Vern Gano has put out a message on the web as well as Gerry.
So far, donations have been really slow. Don Scott and myself along with 2 PTSD Groups VFW members DAV members have volunteered to help us with the pouring of the cement,
form building, ect..... While Gerry is scheduled to arrive around mid may for the haydite block
laying. We are looking for Skip and others to arrive about that time.

We have a small problem, the monies already collected is not enough to purchase the cement.
After talking to an area cement corp, they will cut the price for us, but we still have to purchase
Haydite Blocks and grout. We could use some donations Brothers. I have been to several
industrial company's today and they seem determined to help us.
We have another problem. The Brass Plaques that were on the wall. Many have tried to find
them and have failed. I have approached the NARA in College Park Maryland. They did not
find the shipping records in the Unit files, but they forwarded the email to people who should
know where they are. If we are unlucky, we have to raise we will have to have another fund
raising to raise the $ for the Plaques.
Many things have already been donated, like the river rock, maybe the rebar...the forms, the
finishing on the haydite Blocks which you will never know they are there.
Right Now We need your HELP.
the pouring of the Cement starts 1st week in May 2007. It has to be poured prior to the 15th
of May, It needs a few days to cure before we start laying Blocks.
We have set up a Camp Holloway Memorial Wall fund at the Museum. On your donation
checks, make them out to: the National Vietnam War Museum. on the memo section of the
check put: Camp Holloway Memorial Wall Fund. Mail to: The National Vietnam War Museum

Gerry Sandlin is trying to set up the next 189th Reunion 2009 in Ft Worth Dallas and provide bus
tours to the museum.
Next to Our Wall will be a UH1-H set on a pole up in the air. The next place down will be the 1/2
size retired Moving Wall. The museum sits on a 12 acre site. The web address for the Museum
is :http://www.nationalvnwarmuseum.org/

You are part of this history. Millions of people will pass by our wall every year. The people that
didn't go to Vietnam will learn something about the war.
We are running out of time, So Please help.
