Re: Lewis Clark Walton, MIA 5/10/1971

Here's a link to a terrific photo essay of Lewis Clark Walton's funeral and burial that we attended with some of Walt's SF pals in Providence RI. After a very nice funeral Mass in his old family parish church in Providence, it was twenty miles from the church to the RI Veterans Cemetery where he was buried, and every intersection and on-ramp was blocked along the way. They actually stopped traffic and closed several miles of Interstate 95 to let the procession pass.

We attended with several "real deal" certifiably nuts SF operators, many from the early days, and those guys love helicopter guys. Hard to keep them off our leg, matter of fact. Once they figured out that we were "real deal" also, you shoulda heard the stories...

All that really counts is that their pal "Walt" finally got a proper sendoff, 36 years later, and his wife and kids really appreciated it.

Click on the small pictures on the right and they will pop up in the main window on the left.
