I still remember the beautiful sunrise that day. I was the one who sent Blue flight off that day. I was responsible for making sure 2nd flight ships was ready to go. I had 2nd (blue), Doc had 1st (yellow) and Palmer had the Crocs. The sunrise was so beautiful that day. I knew God was watching us, only he could paint such a sky. when I awoke later that day I heard the news of 297, I was so shocked, thought I was still asleep dreaming this. It can't be true, Eddie and I was just talking the night before in my Hooch. I was making a tape to send home to my folks. Then it sank in. We lost a crew, some very close friends. To this day, every time I have the privilege of seeing another sunrise like that one, I smile, I know the Crew of 297 is looking down and smiling on me just as God was that Nov 21st day of 1968.
