Helicopter rebuilding firm Overseas Aircraft Support (Static Display No. 37 and 38) and Wings & Rotors Museum, on Friday formed a partnership to fly three UH-1 Hueys and an OH-58 Kiowa 5,000 miles across the U.S., culminating in a flight to the Vietnam Wall in Washington, D.C., this Memorial Day (May 26). Overseas Aircraft, which acquires and restores Bell Hueys for commercial use, will support the Vietnam-veteran B and H model Hueys, as well as the 37-year-old Kiowa that saw service in Desert Storm.

The event, dubbed Flying Thunder- Flight to the Wall 2008, is intended to honor all U.S. military veterans as the four helicopters representing each branch of the military tour the nation.

For the Navy contingent of the honor flight, Overseas Aircraft of Lakeside, Ariz., and Wings & Rotors of Murrieta, Calif., have begun restoring a Navy Seawolf UH-1B Huey in the colors of the Navy Seawolves. The helicopter served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1972 and will be the only flying Seawolf in existence, Overseas Aircraft said, indicating that
it will be a flying memorial to a Navy Seawolves crew who died in the aircraft in December 1970.
