March, 1969

Read Bob Kilpatrick's excellent account of March 1969. I Printed that page for my 119 photo book. Outstanding. March may have been the month that the 119 had 6 ships go down for one reason or other. I was in maintenance at the time and went on one of the recoverys to rig a ship for sliing loading back. It was after dark when we started back and was so glad to see the lights of Pleiku and Camp Holloway come into view.
The first time I flew as crewchief was in early May 69. I remember a few things about that flight, which was northtokntum and Dak To. one was that my ammo blew out of the box and was banging against the tailboom. Out of all the chatter on the intercom was the aircraft comander yelling what the hell is that banging noise. chewed out! At least I Grabbed the ammo before it got to the tailrotor.
