Actually, the 81st Trans, which became the 119th when the first Hueys arrived and Assault Helicopter Companies were invented, was 3rd or 4th in country. If the detail is important, I can dig out the detail, but probably not important enough to go through the effort. Important thing is they were the leading edge of the first shift.

1st Cav Div vets like to talk about being first in. They are not making it up, they just don't know any better. They are not aware that the 81st/119th had been killing dinks in the Highlands for more than two years before they arrived. I tell them that, they always get stunned looks on their faces. They question it, then when they get the facts they accept it. Always go away shaking their heads that their assumptions had been wrong for so many years.
