yeah.

got to Hawaii for a week in Sept '70, which, much to me bloody delight, turned into 15 days. ..cool by me.

stayed with family of an old friend, and they had a huge old clawfoot bathub. I soaked in that puppy for three changes of water. After all that and lotsa bubbles, still had a reddish tinge to my carcass, mainly around the fingernails.

I was glad to see that go away from beach, beer and surftime.

My pard (from 71st Evac) and I went on the standard 7-day "admin leave", and getting ready to return to Tan Son Nhut the 7th day, found we weren't on the guest list with World Airways (or Tiger, or sumpin')..

and HAD to remain in Paradise another eight days.

advised us ( as in "lawful order" to report to the Transient Company at Schofield, which we did, and called our units in Pleiku, gave the "bad" news, through a LOT of static.. and "say agains"... but no "nothing heard- OUTs"..

we were told then to enjoy our remaining time in Hawaii... and we did.

Hell, I got back to Saigon with greenbacks, and I really TRIED to spend them all.

what a life...

I went back, thereby making me a stand-up guy.
