I was stationed in Germany for 14 months(70-71). We were issued the M14 rifle. During that time we never fired that weapon not even once , not even to zero it. Those rifles stayed in the arms room. I think we did draw them out one time for an inspection! I worked at Baumholder Army Airfield where we had three OH-13'S.
I think the 8th Infantry Division has now been absorbed into the 1st Div.
Is todays Army like this?? Don't think so.
