Do you remember the big R/F in the Plei Trap when just about everyone in the 119th got a medal.
It was a major league extraction out of the valley
that lasted well after dark in the rain, and fog and overall shitty weather. slicks were taking a pounding, and the bad guys were on the wire of the ground unit. Thats the day I got shot down and limped back to Polei Klang we took hits in the left pod had a rocket motoring in the pod, round touched off a red smoke in the back and the ship was full of red smoke had fly out of trim to blow smoke out, the pod release lever would'nt drop the pod and Touchstone was hanging outside trying to kick the pod off. A round came up thru the bottom of the ship and hit the bottom of my seat and richocheted out thru my door. God what a comedy of errors. Then "Pigpen" gets on the radio to Rick Gill(Waldo)and I'll never forget his transmission... "Waldo I believe the S.O.B's have us surrounded"
