I am one of the fortunate few that got to use a door mounted mini while with the 101st in 71-72. Never had to worry about ground fire! I also saw the M model tug which was a C model with a L-13 in it, man could it carry the shit. Just lost too many of them on Lom Son where the Huey guns were the only ones that would get down and personal. They paid for it with Radar controlled 51's. Out of 75 M models we lost 62 and of those 62 only six crews were recovered. A very sad time. It was definately time to go home. As for being in a gun well again, I think I could still roll a 55 gallon drum along at 100 kts. God how I miss that! This time it could be little turban headed Afghans instead of drums!
