Yep, I remember the bus ride and the flight coming in. We had an eventful flight. We were about 3 hours out of Honolulu when we get a fire alarm on the outboard engine next to my window. We havn't reached the point of no return yet - it was an 8 hr flight to Okinawa - so we turn around drop down to right on the waves and we're dumping 10,000 lbs of fuel into the Pacific. We get back to Honolulu and we hit the airport bar for about 3 hours. You can imagine the group that got back on the plane. When we were going into Nam the pilot came on the intercom and told us that the temp was 98 degrees the wind was calm and the ground fire was light to moderate. THANKS A LOT!!
