>Where the heck was all this neat stuff when WE needed it?>

I dunno when the Vulcan came "online", but there was a unit assigend in Vietnam, apparently when someone in the Pentagon thought we might see a MIG
south of the Z or east of the "fence". We were told at the AD School that the system never was used against an aerial target in 'Nam, but when
used on the few occasions against Chuck and some bunkers, it was a pee-bringer. That rrrrrrrrrrppp
sound made 'em run.

By the way - while assigned to the Air Defense School, I worked in Ops at the Fwd Area Wpns Div, and one day a couple came in looking for "Wilson
Hall" That was our building, and I guess they missed the sign. It was named for their son, the Commander of the Vulcan unit in 'Nam. He was KIA
only days before his tour was completed.
I showed him CPT Wilson's portrait on the wall,
and they were moved to tears. The father said "it looks just like Howard". The CPT's name was NOT Howard (if fergit whut it wuz..) They explained
that Howard was their other son, who also served in 'Nam. They told me he was assigned to "some
helicopter unit in Pleiku". Then it hit me.
CPT Howard Wilson was the HHC Commander at 52nd
for about the last half of my tour.
