George, I appreciate your postings and my venting at the shortcomings of the history should not be taken as a slam toward you. It is just very frustrating to look for names and realize that almost a month and a half of history for 1966 is not there. Names of guys like Hewett ( KIA) Moberly and Lambert and some other members of flight class 66-17. We all arrived together as replacements in early December 1966. My first mission was a "Pre-Christmas truce" recon and photo flight with Ron Corbin along the river at the Cambodian border. We were there and the record should reflect it. That history was written in Jan. or Feb of 1967 and it should have reflected the December roster, not the November roster. The unit historian used what they had. That is why I blame the unit and battalion clerks and personnel officers. It was typical of the shoddy work they did. Every time we went TDY to RON on the SOG/FOB stuff or to QuiNon or where ever there should have been orders. We went VOCO and the personnel clerks did not follow with paperwork unless something bad happened. now the record is lost.
