Well, it's been a bit of an experience trying to get things together for scanning the information Tom sent me into PDF format.

To start off, I had to get a newer version of the software to do the scanning. I found a brand new package on eBay of the latest version. It came with an unused hardware key (dongle) that will allow me to convert 20,000 PDF files before needing to purchase another one. We should be good for a little while :-). I got it for a steal, $200.00 (a new copy from the store is about $380.00). I received it today via Fedex and now have everything setup to crank out some PDF files.

I scanned in the first set of documents Tom sent me. It's an AAR to OPORD 3-67 from 04-15-67 to 05-15-67. The six pages, legal size, took about 1 hour to scan, OCR and export to searchable PDF. One of the 6 pages was a MAP which required no correction for the OCR. This will go faster as I get quicker on corrections but based on the size of the stack Tom sent, we'll have all of this up by Christmas (2007)... hehe

If I dedicate a couple hours a week, we should have them up in short order. Some of the documents are poor quality and are going to take a lot of correction so they will slow things down a little.

This weekend I will try to get the Archive area up on the site so I can start putting the PDF documents up for everyone to browse through. I will post another message when the Archive is available.
