We were all raised during a time in US history when patriotism meant something. I have never met anyone who went because he loved war and killing, though some did learn to love it while they were there. At least, they thought they loved it until they came home. I believe we all wonder how we made it and why. As Bob said, there were many mornings headed for the flight line you didn't expect to come home that night. Each day we strapped on that helicopter, we didn't know what was going to happen. Thank God for Old Timers that cared enough to pass on their wealth of knowledge, and for CEs that were 2nd to none and could work miracles to keep us flying.
