Nope, when I was in Kindergarden, I was living in a garage in Menasha, Wisconsin. Mom and Dad had been divorced for five years. I can remember going with mom to a feed store to purchase a 50# bag of blackeyed peas for us to eat for a month. The cost was less than a dollar for the bag of peas and everyone thought that mom was crazy for using that for people food. No dog, no rifle until I was 10 years old, and I still have the rifle, a Remington 550, 22 calibre rifle.

I still have pictures of the garage that we lived in and I have a picture of me standing in knee deep snow in my Easter Best with my finger in the hole where they had blown in the insulation in the walls. I can remember playing in the snow there, and I can remember Nancy DeBeauvias, a fifth or sixth grader walking the lot of us to school each day. I do not remember having a bus to ride, and time has faded the memory of the distance to the school, but it was a long way for me.

Menasha, Wisconsin is a little town between Oshkosh and Appleton.
