Zackly, Doc.

I never got enough 60 time to have it happen to me, but on the MG range at Sill, we lunrt 'bout it.

I was a Vulcan Crewman for a few years, and the same concept applies to 20MM ammo. When you have to upload a 3000 (or was it 2K-? don't remember- but I DO remember that the cyclic rate of fire was UP TO 6K/min !!!--but, I digress,,) so 2K- or 3K- round drum from coupla hunnert-round cans, you do a lot of linking. Fortunately, there's a "cheater tool" (linker-delinker, natch)-and it makes the job lot faster. A short round or two on a job like that can be a real pain in the tookus, because there are two ways to feed the ammo into the drum- electric motor -driven, and via manual crank. ONE stoppage makes for a dangerous time if yer under fire... but then, that was my point from the beginning.

Doc saved me the explanation, Tom, but surely it came back to ya fast. Shucks, you guys are
THE "Pig" People. :)
