: The 119th had several unit awards including the
: Presidential Unit Citation (for Dakto
: Awarded to the entire 52nd BN.)In 1986, some
: idiot decided the award of the PUC applied
: only to the Headquarters detachment of the
: 52nd BN and took away the award for the
: lower units. That is because General Order
: 38 was mis read by some puke at DOD. The
: very first line of the the order reads
: "The presidential Unit Citation (
: Army)For Extranory heroism is awarded to the
: headquarters and headquarters company 1ST
: Brigade, 4th infantry Division...." and
: then goes on to list all of the units
: receiving the award ( including the 52nd
: BN.) It lists units at platoon level for
: some units and lord knows platoons never had
: headquarters and headquarters companies.
: Anyway that mis read robbed a lot of folks
: of an honor. Screw them!I am keeping my PUC
: and I am also going to send a copy of the
: damned order to DOD requesting correction of
: Military Records. We were listed in the
: Battle register of the 70s as having it and
: when that was changed in 86 to a new name we
: lost our PUC!
