Sititng here for the last couple of nights, I've just realized that Matt could have been deployed somewhere else worse than Korea, like here in Detroit, where, with the weather getting warmer, the natives are getting restless. Wed night, 2 Detroit police offices on patrol were asked to check a house for drug activity and where ambushed by 3 natives, 1 with an AK 47, resulting in the death of 1 officer, in spite of his bullet proof vest. Thurs night, Detroit police officers, attempted to pull over 3 natives suspected of a carjacking and got into a running gun battle. They chased them into a neighboring suburb, Warren. As a Warren officer atempted to box in the suspects with his patrol car, they opened up on him with an AK 47, wounding him in the neck. Last night, the precinct where the slain officer was from started receiving phone calls warning them not to patrol the area where the officer was killed, or they would get them too. So there are places worse than Korea, and he won't be out gunned.
