Re: more SCORPION and SNOOPY
In Response To: Re: more SCORPION and SNOOPY ()

Actually, I don't think the person I was referring to was Bobby Copher, but a
specialist with a last name of Cofer... he was mostly ground crew who
wanted to fly and was waiting his chance... he got that one day in March I
think (I'll have to check on that, the memory fades) when the strip was
hit by mortar/rocket fire... one of our Cobra pilots, who's name I forgot,
rushed to get his ship off the ground and out to take on the attackers...
In a pinch, he took Cofer with him to man the gunner seat.. They reportedly
took them on, but both ended up on The Wall that day. I always thought
that Cofer went down excited about doing what he was doing, finally getting
his chance for some air action... only it was his last chance. He carried
my "rodeo" belt buckle with him.

Somewhere I think I have an 8mm movie with about 5 seconds of Cofer, but I
don't know where it is and do not have the technology to view it anyway...
I recall the film, the only roll I took over there, also includes some on
the deck scenes, very shakey... I bought the camera for my folks
back home and took one roll to see how it worked... then put it away and
never went back to it. Sadly, it may be lost forever.
