Mary Beth,
You have to forgive us sometimes because we forget not everyone is familiar with the language we sometimes use. When giving a direction of danger to the helicopter we used a clock's face to give a position. The nose of the ship pointed to 12 o'clock. The rear of the ship was 6 o'clock. The left side of the ship 90 degrees from front is 9 o'clock. Say another aircarft was coming near us we would say aircraft at 10 o'clock high which would mean a ship was 45 degrees to our left front and higher then us. Cover your six is a term then we are watching your backside or your 6 o'clock.
