From what have found, most of these reports have several incidents omitted for some reason. During the month of Nov.1968 We actually lost three ships. Gator 519 was shot down during a LRRP extraction on Nov.1st. Gator 371 was shot up on Nov.11th in the same area as Gator 519. It was recovered but was replaced and sent to another unit. Gator 297 was lost Nov.21st. I don't know if this was not reported because of what we were doing or if we were under operational control of the 4th Infantry. All of this happened while we were RON (remain over night) at Dak TO. Most of us were stationed there for the entire months of Oct. and Nov. In most of the reports I have read there aren't any mention of ships being lost because of enemy fire.
