You know, the few times I got back to Radcliff on my own, not counting Battalion stand downs, I never ate in the mess hall, I'd hide out in the Commo shop and eat C's. Never had to worry about the Lifers and REMFs that way.
As far as I can remember, it was either you guys or the Blackjacks that did all the flying for the 1/22. I would like to find the guys that gave me my first ride though. The 4th was still in Plieku, but was in the process of moving from Enari to Radcliff. Anyway, here I am sitting on the pad, waiting for a ride out to the Battalion Fire Base, Beaver, which was all the back near English, and just scared shitless. The ship finally comes it, and it completely loaded with resupply. The door gunner waves me over and tells me to get in on top of all the resupply. Well, I just know I'm going to fall out, the AC knows I'm a FNG and does all this banking and turning, so for the whole flight from Plieku to English, I'm looking straight down at the ground most of the time. To this day, I can't remember another another chopper ride my whole time in country. Every time I got on, I completly blanked out.
