Ron,

The 4 March '69 journal from my squad sergeant stated "Eventually we reached Delta and the birds started coming to pick us up. We were brought here to Plei Mrong. We are dug in and waiting to see what will happen. We have been told what our mission will now be. The NVA are using T-34, Soviet made tanks and had them against a village, Ben Hoi, and the 3/8th. Alpha Company from the same unit was hit pretty bad. Nine to ten tanks have been used. How many we have destroyed is not accurate. But Alpha, Delta and Bravo (my company) are on standby to go up north where the trouble is.

Alpha Company went out this afternoon and us, plus Delta will go tomorrow. Just where the exact location is I do not know. The area is about twenty-five miles north of Kontum. Tonight things haven't been too quite. The Special Forces Camp at Plei Mrong has taken a good number of mortar rounds. None fell in our perimeter. Right now Spooky-baron is working out with her mini-guns and 22 caliber cannons.

Clearly, our Bn was rushed in to support the 1st Bde. 3 March '69 C 1/35 was CA'd from LZ Lillie to LZ Mary (C 1/35 had 30 WIA's from 28 Feb '69 contact). LZ Mary was secured by A and D companies from the 3/12. 3 March '69 A 1/35 was OPCON to the 3/8 and at LZ Pause.
