I too had a reputation for being a scrounger, kept a book on who needed what and who had what to trade. I came out good on several trades. The best trade was the flight that I gave to the Captain at Quinnan. He was the MFWIC for the milk reconstitution plant. He traded a meal to my crew for the flight, but when we found milk and Ice Cream in the mess hall, I asked for and got some to take back to Pleiku. 30 six gallon cartons of Ice Cream, and he covered that with milk, a whole bunch of it. I salvaged 6 cartons of Ice Cream and eight cartons of milk for the hooch. Our bar was a popular place for a day or two.
