I spite of having been raised an Army Brat, and having six brothers and sisters, needless to say, money was tight. When in the US, Mom always "cut" whole milk with Carnation or Starlac powdered milk. Living on Okinawa for three years in the fifties, there was only reconstituted milk, and I never got used to it- it always seemed to taste like coconut milk.
and it tasted worse in Pleiku. Only chocolate was palatable to me.
I don't remember ANY ice cream in Pleiku, Not even at 71st Evac.
