I guess you might say that I am blaming two or three specific groups of people from THE GREATEST GENERATION. The first of that group is all of those who were in the Government who failed to take the blame for what they did, ie. they were the ones who made the life and death decisions in Washington, D. C. while we were in combat. Yes, check the records of who was there and see what they did, they ducked for cover and almost pushed the blame on the veterans who were belittled by the press and the youth of that day and age. They did not accept responsibility for what they were doing, and we did not have the 24 hour news and the internet to express our feelings and point out their failure to act responsibly. They ducked everything and blamed the soldiers. How many of the people reporting on our conflict and selecting the articles to be published were members of THE GREATEST GENERATION, almost all of the people who chose the stories to write. Most of the cub reporters were ten to fifteen years older than we were and they were taking their direction from THE GREATEST GENERATION.

President Johnson is the one who built up that little war so that he and his cronies from THE GREATEST GENERATION could make their fortunes by trading our lives for the personal profits that they could make from selling goods and services to the military, and they made a bunch of money while they were driving the economy into the dumps. All of the time that they were making money, the members of THE GREATEST GENERATION were micro-managing the war, we couldn't do anything without their approval. Yes, the entire conflict, until 1969 was directed directly from the White House and the Pentagon catering to the White House. Those leaders (in the Pentagon) were members of THE GREATEST GENERATION. Then the members of THE GREATEST GENERATION who were members of the House and Senate cut off the funding for that little war forcing the military out of Vietnam. They called it Vietnamization of the war, I call it a cut and run.

Then there were the members of THE GREATEST GENERATION who were in the VFW, the American Legion, American Veterans, and almost every other organization who belittled our service and generally drove us out of those organizations until they started dying off and they needed our money to make their organizations whole so that they could continue drinking at their clubs. I am in the VFW at Bogota, TX. I ran into that attitude when I first got there so I have been a member since 2000, but I haven't been there more than four times before April of this year. I was recognized by several of the members as one who has helped other veterans in the local area and they brought me into the club to help all of the veterans in the local area. Of course this is a ploy to gain membership for the VFW, but the ones who are joining now are all Vietnam Veterans. But the leadership is still being held by members of THE GREATEST GENERATION. Now, they don't talk about our service, or our conflict. They have been put on notice about that little subject. The organization (and their drinking place) will fail without the support of the Vietnam Veterans and Veterans of subsequent conflicts.

Please note also, it is the Vietnam Veterans who are pushing to get the support for the members of our present military the recognition that they deserve, that plus no one would join the military if the government had not changed to favor the military personnel. Remember that George W. Bush was the first President to go to the military and start the build up of those organizations who have been cut to the bone by the Democrats and THE GREATEST GENERATION. Bush did that before the current conflicts. You should see the pay checks of today's military personnel, in comparrison to ours, from back when. I have spoken to E-6's who are making nearly $60K per year, that didn't happen during our day when we had the draft. The 1960's Army's most educated group of personnel were those who were in the aviation activities. Remember how valued our aviation enlisted personnel were after that war? I do, I remained on active duty for almost 14 years and our crewmembers, who stayed with the military, were generally promoted faster than any other group. Hell, they had more brain power than any other active group, and many retired with a lot of rank, and many moved on to good paying government jobs, after their service in the military. We are the supporters of today's military, WE, THE VIETNAM VETERAN GENERATION.
