although very stark, a lot of that day is fuzzy, Dave-I guess the shock of it all, and so many conflicting reports, even on FOX- but it seems almost yesterday, sometimes seems forever ago.

my son was at work, had no phone, and I couldn't reach him. My daughter was at home, about three miles from Quantico. My wife was at work, two miles away. I got my wife and daughter on the phone, then my Mom and brother in Texas, but couln't reach anyone else. The phones were already too-tied up. I went to my son's construction site, and they had just heard it on the radio.

Came home and made sure we had plenty of water, food, ammo, first aid and other bail-out gear..ready to "go"... Late that afternoon, I went to the home of an old pal and his Mrs, both worked in the Pentagon. She came to the door, knees scraped up from crawling. Understandably, she was a mess. She hadn't heard from her husband yet. He's knee-deep in Pentagon security, but it turned out that he was in Suitland.

I went to Walmart the next day, and all they had left was .22 and 16 guage. I had enough .22, and no 16, but a 12.

Twenty-seven from my county perished at the Pentagon.
