The thing I remember most in A10 and N20 school was the A and B models we trained on. I suppose they were similar but not quite. I got no gunner training until my first mission. Gun went bang, once...had put the damn piston in backward...last time I did that. I was an instructor in between tours at Ft. Rucker and taught Crew duties to include instruments and forms and records. I was tough but I also let them know why! While with the 101st I went TDY to be an instructor of door gunnery, went to several units in Nam and a few in Korea, that was cool duty. Nothing can train you for actual combat, just like the legs and the cannon cockers we had to learn with the first change of underwear!
